Joyous for Clinics

Your patients. Your prescription. Daily support between visits.

Joyous partners with clinics to offer at-home, low-dose ketamine care for depression and anxiety. You stay the prescriber and keep the relationship. Joyous supplies the medication, checks in with your patients every day, and sends you their progress before each visit.

Free for clinics to join. No platform fees.

Who does what

Your clinic

Prescribes, sets the plan, sees the patient monthly, makes every clinical decision.

Joyous

Onboards the patient, ships medication, runs daily check-ins and validated scales, flags risk, reports back to you.

Your patient

Doses at home, answers a one-minute daily check-in, attends follow-ups.

100,000+patients treated

At-home care since2022

The gap

Care happens monthly. Life happens daily.

Between visits, most clinics have almost no signal. A relapse, a side effect or a missed-dose spiral can be weeks old by the next appointment. Measurement-based care improves outcomes, but it is hard to run by hand.

Daily signal, not monthly

Mood, sleep, adherence and side effects captured each day the patient checks in.

Scales scored for you

PHQ-9 and GAD-7 on schedule, weekly C-SSRS suicidality screening with RN follow-up.

Visits that start informed

A progress summary (dose, PHQ-9, GAD-7, check-ins) arrives before each follow-up.

How it works

From referral to day one, then a simple monthly loop.

  1. Your patient signs up

You share your clinic's Joyous sign-up link. The patient verifies identity, signs consents and sets up their monthly plan in a few minutes.

  2. You e-prescribe

Send the buccal troche Rx electronically from your EMR to the Joyous Partner Pharmacy, SmartScript (Oshkosh, WI), a specialist compounding pharmacy. Controlled substance: e-Rx only, no fax or paper.

  3. Medication ships home

The pharmacy fills and ships to the patient's door, signature required. Medication is included in the patient's plan.

  4. Daily check-ins begin

The patient scans the QR code in the box, picks a start date and begins a one-minute daily check-in. Scales and C-SSRS run on schedule.

  5. You get the summary

Progress reports and risk flags come to you, routed per the escalation protocol you set at onboarding.

  6. Follow up and renew

You see the patient at about 3 weeks, then monthly, adjust the plan and write the next script. No automatic refills.

Clinical approach

Low-dose, buccal, and monitored.

The medication

Compounded racemic ketamine troches, alcohol-free and absorbed buccally (behind one's cheek), with an estimated 25–30% bioavailability. Daily dosing starts at 15 mg and rises in 15 mg steps as tolerated, titrated to response, up to a maximum of 120 mg. Sub-anesthetic and psycholytic: patients stay present, coherent, and aware.

The safeguards

Medical eligibility screening, PDMP checks, weekly C-SSRS with RN follow-up, blood-pressure monitoring at dose increases for patients with controlled hypertension or on stimulants, and a slow-absorbing troche that limits misuse.

Regulatory status

Ketamine is a Schedule III controlled substance. Racemic ketamine for depression and anxiety is prescribed off-label, at the prescriber's clinical judgment. Esketamine (Spravato®) is the FDA-approved form for treatment-resistant depression.

Questions clinics ask

Who is the prescriber of record?

You are. Your clinic prescribes, manages the medication and makes all clinical decisions. Joyous provides monitoring, support and fulfillment.

Which states do you cover?

Joyous currently serves patients in 32 states. We confirm coverage for your patients on the intro call.

Do my patients have to use your pharmacy?

Yes. Joyous troches are compounded to a specific formulation, so the program's medication is dispensed only by the Joyous Partner Pharmacy, a specialist compounding pharmacy (SmartScript, Oshkosh, WI). Its cost is included in the patient's $99 monthly plan. Patients who prefer a different pharmacy can be treated by your clinic outside the Joyous program.

What does it cost the patient?

$99 a month, medication included. Your own visits are billed by your clinic as usual.

Can my clinic bill for this?

Your clinic bills for the services it provides, such as follow-up visits and, where your practice meets the requirements, care management. See the codes clinics commonly use above, and confirm with your billing team.

What happens if a patient flags risk?

Weekly C-SSRS screening and daily check-ins are reviewed by Joyous RNs. Flags route to you per the escalation protocol agreed at onboarding, with imminent-risk pathways defined in advance.
